As an organization Sigma Kappa encourages our members to be involved in their campus and community. Because of this focus on involvement outside of Sigma Kappa, our sisters are able to engage with the campus and community in ways that are important to them by hosting and participating in a number of different events.
As sisters we love to spend time together, strengthen our bonds, and create memories we will cherish forever.
Throughout each semester it is super important to plan a wide array of Sisterhood Events! The possibilities are endless for what kind of activities these consist of! From friendship bracelet making to ice skating, to yoga and tie-dyeing; we try to do a little bit of everything!
During COVID-19, it was important to us to find ways to connect while being safe and preventing the spread. These events included socially distanced, outdoor and virtual events! Our virtual events all took place via Zoom and include a cooking class, yoga, clay jewelry dish making, and more!
We are looking forward to continue planning fun and creative Sisterhood Events and as our world gets back to normal we are looking forward to being able to do more things all together and fully in-person!
Summer Sendoff, 2021: As a conclusion to our most recent Spring semester, our sisters safely got together outdoors to make bracelets, tie-dye shirts, and spend time together one last time! Our chapter also put together stress-less goodie bags to make finals a little easier!
Galentines, 2020: A Galentine's Sisterhood event was held at the Sigma Kappa House on February 11th, 2020. We enjoyed some Valentine's themed sweets and activities!
Each semester we enjoying planning and attending our date parties and mixers that are coordinated with other Greek Life organizations. These are typically themed for certain holidays (i.e. a Halloween Mixer), or just for fun like our "Totally Wigin' Out" mixer. We also plan annual Semi-Formal and a Formal dances!
Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 many of our social events were put on pause in order to adhere to CDC guidelines. However, this upcoming Fall (2021) we are excited to be able to resume planning larger social events! Many brilliant ideas are in store and we could not be more excited!
Area 51 Mixer, Fall 2019: This is an example of one of our mixers held with the Kappa Alpha Fraternity at King Street Public House. For the Area 51 theme everyone wore their most out of this world attire!
Semi-Formal, Fall 2019: Our Semi-Formal was held on November 23rd, 2019 at Woolfe Street Playhouse. We spent the night dancing, and singing to our favorite songs!
St. Patrick's Mixer/Date Party, Spring 2020: We shamrocked along with members of Kappa Alpha Fraternity on March 4th at Mynt! This event was planned by our previous Social Chairwoman, Lauren Ducci (in 1st photo on the right)!
We love our alum and we like to often plan events with them! It is important to us that our newer members are able to make connections and lasting impressions on each other! Our alumni connections are helpful to our sisters when navigating college, future career paths, and general life advice!
Our most recent alumni event was at the Sigma Kappa home on Thursday Feb. 27, 2020 from 5:00pm-7:00pm! There we had sweet treats and crafting for both our current members and alumni!
Outside of Sigma Kappa
Our sisters are involved in numerous activities on the College of Charleston campus such as Charleston Forty Tour Guides Association, Student Alumni Associates, MicroFinance Club, Club for Hospitality and Tourism, Equestrian, Theater, Dance, and so much more! Not only do our sisters get involved as members, many of our sisters take on leadership roles and executive board positions of these clubs.
